PONDA: The officials of Mandovi Hatcheries engaged in poultry farm activities at Suktallem. Mollem claimed that they suffered massive loss due to overflowing and flooding of their pollutry farm Dudhsagar river on 23 July.
“The water started rising in the morning at 6.30 am on Thursday, and within few minutes, it reached 15 to 16 feet height, causing flooding of poultry farm,” they stated.
The officials said the company has a broiler parent breeding farm at Suktallem, Sangod, Mollem and has been operating for the past 20 years with around 60 people.
On 23 July, the officials claimed, they were shocked to see that more than 25000 parent birds die due to flash floods, 25 tones of feeds were drenched and washed out, 14000 hatched eggs were washed away, veterinary medicine stock was damaged beside many types of machinery used in operating of poultry farm was destroyed.
