MARGAO: South Goa Special Court has adjourned the Power rebate scam case allegedly involving Power Minister Mauvin Godinho to November 22.
Fresh summons are to be issued to witnesses in the case.
Several witnesses have been examined by the court in relation to the case.
One of the alleged accused requested the court to provide him with the documents related to the case. However, the court directed him to review the documents within the court premises.
The power rebate scam came to light in 1998 when former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar exposed it.
An FIR was registered in the Crime Branch of the Goa Police against Godinho, who was Power Minister in the Congress government then, and is currently a minister in the BJP government.
It is worth noting that on July 16, 2022, the court dismissed the discharge applications made by Godinho, Katreddi Venkata Sahaye Krishnakumar, and Glass Fibre Division (a division of Binani Zinc Ltd, presently known as Goa Glass Fibre Ltd) in the power scam case.
The Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet in connection with the corruption case against Godinho, two industrial units, and four others.
