Margao: Youth Leader Prabhav Naik has given Memorandums to the South Goa Superintendent of Police and Chief Officer of Margao Municipality urging them to take steps to provide Safety & Security to Citizens and keep Margao Clean during the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi Festival.
In the Memorandum submitted to SP, South Goa, Prabhav Naik has stated that there is fear and anxiety in the minds of the Citizens due to rising cases of crimes in the State. Ganesh Chaturthi Festival is hardly a week away. People who are natives of other places visit their ancestral homes to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi Festival by keeping their residential premises locked for few days. In the past, many thefts and robberies were reported from such locked houses.
“We appeal to you to ensure that strict vigil is kept in the city during the festival period by deploying Police personnel with round-the-clock patrolling. All the entry/exit points to the City should be monitored. Police Department should also gather information from the Citizens who will be keeping their houses closed during the festival period,” Prabhav Naik has stated in his Memorandum.
“We also appeal to you to provide constant security at the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Pandals in the City and make elaborate arrangements for traffic management during the Festival by deploying Traffic Police at various strategic locations,” the Memorandum stated.
In his Memorandum to the Chief Officer of Margao Municipal Council, Prabhav Naik demanded to take up Cleanliness Drive in the City, Clear Footpaths & Passages from encroachments and Stop overflowing of Sewage in open spaces and on roads and also demarcate Vendor Zones for Tribal Women who come to Margao to sell organic Vegetables & Fruits during Ganesh Chaturthi.
Youth Leader Prabhav Naik has also submitted a Reminder Letter to the Deputy Collector complaining of inaction by PWD despite the Collectors Order dated 23rd July 2024 to undertake trimming of trees in the Aquem area. He has urged the Deputy Collector to complete trimming of trees before Ganesh Chaturthi.
“I am here to take up the issues concerning the Citizens of Margao. I will continue to raise issues and do follow-ups till the particular issue is completely resolved. I will not leave anything halfway,” said Prabhav Naik.
