TALEIGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today urged the younger generation to practice yoga regularly every day of the year for a healthy life, saying that it is an essential kind of physical and mental exercise that helps one gain control over the body and mind.
Chief Minister Sawant performed Yoga at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s indoor Stadium at Taleigao Plateau.
“The younger generation should practice yoga regularly every day of the year for a healthy life, saying that it is an essential kind of physical and mental exercise that helps one gain control over the body and mind,”; said Sawant.
In addition, Sawant stated that India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the establishment of International Yoga Day eight years prior. Since the day of its celebration, yoga has become increasingly well-known.
Sawant said that everyone should practice Yoga for good health. “Students have also participated in today’s Yoga Day programme. These programmes have taken place at taluka level and at many places in Goa,” he said, adding that Yoga will help promote tourism in Goa.
“Today, let us celebrate the ancient practice of ‘Yog’, born in the sacred land of India and now practised by millions of people around the world. Let us all pledge to integrate the regular practice of Yog to achieve inner peace, enhanced focus and for our overall well-being,” he added.
CM also said that the state government will also promote millets. He also said that the government has decided to include millet in the Mid-day meals that are provided to the school children in the state.
“We will organise workshops for the self-help groups involved in supplying mid-day meals to the students and train them on the use of millets in the mid-day meals,” he added.
