PANAJI: Prajat Halankar delivered an impressive performance in the men’s singles quarter-finals at the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open 2025, defeating Raju Kundaikar 6-3 to secure his spot in the semifinals. Later that day, he partnered with Avadhut Palekar in the men’s doubles quarter-finals, where they faced Joao Mergulhao and Rahul Pinto, winning decisively with a 6-1 scoreline.
In other men’s singles action, Prince D’Silva narrowly edged out Nagesh Naik with a 6-4 victory in a match that was closely contested. The men’s doubles competition also showcased intense battles, with Prince D’Silva and Punit Fadte advancing past Pankaj Naik and Sachin Ambre. Meanwhile, Ganesh Vernekar and Bhalchandra Gaitonde dominated their match against Tanay Amonkar and Manoj Pandey, winning 6-0. Siddharth Nunes and Nagesh Naik displayed sharp skills in their 6-1 win over Allan Fernandes and James Darbar.
In the masters 45+ men’s doubles final, Sachin Dukle and Kevin Rebello delivered a flawless performance, defeating Mano Chhabra and Suraj Pombra 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the title.
The ladies’ singles quarter-finals featured a notable match between sisters Tithee Bhoomkar and Bhaavya Bhoomkar. Top seed Tithee asserted her dominance with a 6-1 victory over her younger sister. In other matches, Poojal Naik delivered a dominant 6-0 performance against Kimberly Cabral, and Raisa Menezes secured a 6-4 win over Aastha Dua in one of the day’s tighter contests.
The mixed doubles quarter-finals were filled with surprises and high-energy exchanges. A significant upset occurred when the formidable duo of Tithee Bhoomkar and Raju Kundaikar were narrowly defeated 7-5 by siblings Aishwarya Nunes and Siddharth Nunes. Raisa Menezes and Santosh Gorawar combined effectively to overcome Poojal Naik and Pankaj Nanoskar 6-3. Tanya Shelyazhynska and Arup Angle edged past Tomoyo Fujita and Prajat Halankar with a 6-4 win, while Asuntha Fleming and Nagesh Naik held their nerve for a 6-3 victory over Liza George and Prince D’Silva, completing the semifinal lineup.
In the boys’ under-18 quarter-finals, Kyan Mavany, Shreyas Patil, Arhan Gaunkar, and Punit Fadte all advanced with commanding performances. Kyan was particularly dominant, securing a 6-0 win over Ethan Ataide, while Shreyas continued his strong form with a 6-0 victory against Vedant Naik.
The boys’ under-14 category saw Arhan Gaunkar deliver an impressive performance, defeating Shaurya Verlekar 4-0, 4-0 in the semifinals. In the girls’ under-18 division, both Tithee Bhoomkar and Tvisha Sardesai were in excellent form. Tithee edged past Urvi Panandiker with two 4-1 set victories, while Tvisha delivered a flawless display against Bhaavya Bhoomkar, winning both sets 4-0 to advance to the final.
In the boys’ under-10 semifinals, Arsh Sardesai and Devaansh Naik secured their spots in the final after contrasting wins. Arsh triumphed in a dramatic 4-1, 1-4, 10-5 match against Christian Fernandes, while Devaansh dominated Jai Mehta with a 4-0, 4-0 victory.
The girls’ under-10 semifinals featured intense competition. Samaira Patil emerged victorious in a thrilling match against Aaliya Metry, and Subhagya Manda edged out Myra Borkar in a gritty clash, both advancing to the final.
