PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has completed seven continuous years in office, becoming the first CM in Goa’s post-statehood history to achieve this milestone.
He assumed charge on March 19, 2019, following the demise of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
An Ayurvedic doctor by profession, Sawant has led the state through several key phases, including governance reforms, a strong infrastructure push, and the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Under his leadership, the Bharatiya Janata Party returned to power in 2022, securing a third consecutive term in Goa.
The current government enjoys the support of 32 legislators, including independents and members of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, reflecting a stable majority in the Assembly.
BJP Goa President Damu Naik praised Sawant’s journey and leadership, stating that from a humble karyakarta to Chief Minister, he has remained a true sevak of the people.
Naik added that with dedication and decisive leadership, Sawant has steered Goa towards stability, progress, and development, and his completion of seven years in office is a testament to his commitment to building a stronger, Swayampurna and Viksit Goa.
