PANAJI: Pravin Zantye today has resigned as the Member of the Legislature Assembly (MLA). Zantye is the fourth BJP MLA to resign. Zantye will be joining the MGP.
Zantye submitted his resignation to Goa Assembly Legislative Secretary Namrata Ulman and BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade.
“I have resigned as MLA; I have decided that I have to be a part of the party which feels and does development in the state. I will be joining the MGP,” said Zantye
He further said that he does not want to join the Congress as it is not the same party as it was during his father’s tenure.
“I am looking for a party that gives development, and I feel MGP will be a better party to take things forward; my thoughts and suggestions were never taken in BJP,” he added.
Zantye said that MGP is the best option in the current scenario. He also said that he asked his supporters before taking any decision.
“I was very critical of his party over deciding the candidate in Mayem constituency. There is a circus going on here. One person is about to join the party. He said that there are also talks of one lady from a neighbouring constituency who might get a ticket here.
Meanwhile, MGP Supremo Sudin Dhavalikar had said that BJP sitting MLA Pravin Zantye and many other disgruntled BJP leaders are in touch with MGP and are likely to join the party very soon.
