BENGALURU: The Mhadei Progressive River Authority for Welfare and Harmony (PRAWAH) has decided to discuss, deliberate and settle all issues regarding sustainable and equitable utilisation of the waters of the Mhadei river basin among the three party states of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
P M Scott presided over the PRAWAH’s second meeting, which took place in Bengaluru on Monday.
In accordance with the decision made at Mahadayi PRAWAH’s inaugural meeting, which took place on February 13, 2024, all three party states’ basin areas were visited by authority members for familiarization.
The members of the authority expressed satisfaction with the familiarization visit that took place between July 4 and 7, according to a press release released on Monday.
The Central Water Commission and other agencies have to provide their clearance before the authority can begin deliberations on the Virdi major minor irrigation scheme in Maharashtra, based on the project’s techno-economic feasibility.
On the Virdi Major MI Scheme of Maharashtra, the Authority decided to take up the project for deliberation only after clearances are obtained from the Central Water Commission and other Agencies from Techno- economic feasibility angle.
