SATTARI: Health Minister and Poriem MLA Vishwajit Rane on Thursday chaired a preparatory meeting with officials of the Forest Department and Water Resources Department on the proposed Minor Irrigation (M.I.) Tank project at Charavanem, Sattari.
Rane said the project is a crucial step towards ensuring sustainable water availability for the people of the region while safeguarding forests, wildlife, and ecology.
“This preparatory exercise sets the stage for finalising a comprehensive action plan, which will soon be discussed in detail with Hon’ble Minister for Water Resources Shri Subhash Shirodkar, Hon’ble MLA of Poriem Constituency Dr. Deviya Rane, and all concerned officials. Our focus will be on long-term water security, rehabilitation of affected families, compensatory afforestation, and ecological safeguards,” Rane stated.
He added, “Our commitment is clear — development must move forward hand in hand with environmental protection, delivering benefits to people while preserving Goa’s natural heritage.”
The project is expected to play a vital role in water resource management in Sattari while balancing developmental needs with environmental sustainability.
