CANACONA: In preparation for the annual Ran-Bhaji Festival scheduled for 19th July 2025 in Canacona, pre-preparatory meetings were held with various stakeholders and their representatives. The meetings brought together representatives of local high schools, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Anganwadi workers, Panchayat members, Sarpanchs, Corporators, and social activists to plan the event collaboratively.
In the absence of Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, who is currently in New Delhi, the first meeting with school representatives was conducted at Shristhal Rest House. A second meeting for SHG representatives, Anganwadi workers, Panchs, Sarpanchs, Corporators, and activists was held at the Ravindra Bhavan conference hall. Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Ramesh Tawadkar hosted the meetings and provided guidance on key topics in the MLA’s absence.
OSD to the Speaker, Santosh Lolayekar, welcomed participants, while Shristhal Biodiversity Committee member Shirish Pai shared detailed information about the upcoming festival. Assistant Director of Agriculture Shivram Gaonkar offered important suggestions for the event’s smooth organization. Shristhal Biodiversity Management Committee Chairman Vinay Tubaki expressed gratitude to all attendees.
Also present at the meetings were Zonal Agriculture Officer (ZAO) Mahendra Pagi, Director at Goa Horticulture Corporation Diwakar Pagi, Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Nisha Chari, Agonda Sarpanch Nilesh Pagi, Shristhal Sarpanch Sejal Gaonkar, Poinguinim Deputy Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, CDPO, Agonda Biodiversity Committee Chairman Shaba Naikgaunkar, Poinguinim Biodiversity Committee Chairman Subhash Mahale, Panchs, Sarpanchs, BJP Mandal office bearers, and other local activists involved in planning the festival.
