PORVORIM: Governor of Goa P.S. Sreedharan Pillai today has appealed to the new state government led by Dr Pramod Sawant to prepare a road map for the state for the next 25 years.
Pillai also informed that efforts are all in to resume the mining activities in the state of Goa for employment generation and taking the economy to the next level.
“I appeal to the new state government led by Dr Pramod Sawant to prepare a road map for the state for the next 25 years. This will set the benchmark for the years ahead for sustainable development,” said GovernorGovernor in his address on day 1 of the Goa Legislative Assembly
He further welcomed the state government’s approach toward curbing drug peddling in the state of Goa.
“I appreciate the state government’s strict approach and 24×7 vigilance to put a curb on the drug peddling in the state,” he added.
The GovernorGovernor also said that the state government is working to make Goa into an accident-free state in the years to come.
On Mining, The Goa Governor informed t efforts are all in to resume the mining activities in the state of Goa for employment generation and to take the economy to the next level.
He further said that marine fish catch was 1.21 lakh tonnes and inland was 5,003 tonnes during the year 2021.
“Goa has a per capita income of Rs 5.04 lakh, which is the highest in the country, portraying a robust and healthy economy,” he added.
Pillai also said that the state government had received Rs 150 crore out of Rs 300 crore sanctioned for infrastructure development as a part of the Celebration of 60 years of Goa’s liberation.
He also mentioned that Valpoi Police Station has been ranked 4th amongst 10 best Police Stations in India while also appreciating the efforts of Goa Police in controlling the crime rate.
“The state government, under the able leadership of young and dynamic chief minister Pramod Sawant has managed the Covid situation in Goa well.I would like to applaud all health workers and frontline warriors who have worked hard and tirelessly in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
He said that the vaccination programme in Goa is progressing well, and 100% of the eligible population has been covered with both doses.
“It is extremely important that even after vaccination, people must follow Covid appropriate behaviour such as wearing masks, adhering to social distancing and maintaining hygiene,” Pillai added.
Further, the GovernorGovernor, in his message, also informed that the work of construction of the new International Airport at Mopa is progressing at a rapid pace, and it is expected to be completed by August 2022.
