PANAJI: Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has formally invited President Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate the 25th edition of Canacona Lokotsav, set to take place from December 19 to 21. The invitation was extended during a meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, which also saw the presence of Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar.
Tawadkar highlighted that the Lokotsav, organized annually by Adarsh Yuva Sangh since 2000, has grown into a significant cultural event attracting tribal and folk artistes from across India, and even performers from parts of Asia and Europe.
He also briefed President Murmu on Goa’s Shram Dham initiative, run by the Balram Charitable Trust, which aims to provide housing for underprivileged families across the state and beyond. Additionally, he spoke about educational and rural development projects under the Balram Education Society.
President Murmu welcomed the invitation and indicated that she would make efforts to attend the festival, marking a notable highlight for the upcoming edition of Canacona Lokotsav.
