Uttarakhand: In a grand ceremony held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 38th National Games, marking a significant milestone in India’s sporting history. The 38th National Games commenced on January 28, 2025, with PM Modi addressing the gathering and praising the energy and potential of the youth in Uttarakhand. This multi-sport event features 32 core sports and 4 demonstration events, including Mallakhamb, Kalaripayattu, Rafting, and Yogasana, across various venues in Uttarakhand such as Dehradun, Haldwani, and Haridwar.
Over 10,000 athletes, coaches, and officials are participating in this grand event, which is designed to be environmentally friendly. The trophies and medals are made from e-waste, and a tree will be planted in the name of every medal winner, reflecting the ‘Green Games’ theme.
