PANAJI: Stating that he is ready to take any responsibility given by the party, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Saturday said that his priority is taking up issues of the Mormugao constituency.
Speaking to reporters on his name being short-listed for the post of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president, Amonkar said that he has heard so only through media.
“Several names are being discussed like me, Janardan Bhandari, Francis Sardinha, Amit Patkar, etc. We have no issues on whatever decision the party takes,” he said.
He stated that he has worked under the leadership of many presidents in the last 15 years and will continue to do so in future.
“I am a loyal soldier of the Congress and have nothing to say on party’s decision. My priority right now is the Mormugao constituency; the people of Mormugao have voted for me and have some expectations, and I do not want to disappoint them,” he said.
On the new traffic fines by implementing the New Motor Vehicle Act, he said the State government must first repair the roads.
“See the condition of roads on NH66; there are fatal accidents. We can implement the new fines only after we give proper infrastructure,” he stated.
