PORVORIM: Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Ganesh Gaonkar has ordered an inquiry into the protest related to the Mirabag Bandara issue that took place in the visitors’ gallery of the Assembly.
Condemning the incident, Gaonkar said such actions disrupt the decorum of the House and cannot be tolerated. He informed members that an investigation has already been initiated to determine how the protest occurred inside the Assembly premises.
The Speaker stated that a detailed report on the matter will be prepared and subsequently tabled before the House.
On March 6, 2026, four individuals were detained after protesting in the visitors’ gallery of the Goa Legislative Assembly regarding the Mirabag Bandara project.
The protest caused significant disruption during the first day of the budget session, leading Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to call the protesters “terrorist-minded” and order their immediate arrest.
