PONDA: In a move aimed at maintaining law and order, authorities have restricted the assembly of groups within a 4-kilometre perimeter of the Goa Meat Complex in Usgao, Ponda. The restriction will remain in force until June 10, 2025.
The directive, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), comes in response to a request by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Ponda, who flagged the area as sensitive and vulnerable to public disturbances.
The order specifically bars gatherings of five or more individuals and is intended to prevent any situation that could escalate into unrest or disrupt peace.
Officials have cautioned residents and visitors to strictly follow the directive, adding that legal action will be initiated against anyone found violating the ban.
