PONDA: Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh IPS today said that proper crime scene management is important for detection of crimes
DGP was addressing the gathering during a sorkshop on Crime Scene Management Organized by the National Forensic Science University at Goa Engineering College (GEC) Premises Farmagudi.
“The word crime management means first of all taking control of crime scene which includes to properly preserve the crime scene, separate the witnesses, to secure the crime scene and totally scan crime scene,” said DGP
He said that basically from crime scene investigation it can leads to criminal.
Speaking further he said that forensic science plays important role in crime detection. He said accused may lie in Court of law but the scientific forensic evidence will not lie in Court.
“when crimes happens We don’t knows criminal, however howsoever smart the criminal may be he leaves some evidences which investigators needs to gather in scientific manner which will convict the criminal in Court of law hence its challenging task to manage crime scene which is important part of Police Investigation,” he added
He said during crime scene management the Police officials need very patient and calm.
He said today the crime is not only conventional, physical but it also happens in cyber space as well.
Therefore cyber forensic also assumes lot of importance. In Conventional crime there is geographical (spot of crime)scene of crime but in Cyber crime complaint we don’t know the scene of crime.
The complainant receives message, he shares password etc and looted. We don’t know criminal and may thousand km away. He said this is challenging time for Investigators and one need help of cyber expert. Therefore there is need for investigator for thoroughly trained in digital forensic science.
