MANDREM: Mandrem police have registered an offence following a complaint by a 65-year-old resident of Sawantwada, Mandrem, Pernem, over an alleged assault linked to a prolonged property dispute.
As per police records, the offence was registered on January 18, 2026, at around 1.29 pm on the complaint of Nandabal Bica alias Bhikaji Mahadev Sawant, a resident of House No. A-143, Sawantwada, Mandrem.
Sawant alleged that on January 17, 2026, at about 6 pm, he was wrongfully restrained at Sawantwada by six persons — Suryakant Pandurang Sawant, Sunita Suryakant Sawant, Babita Bablo Sawant, Omkar Bablo Sawant, Bablo Pandurang Sawant and Alisha Bablo Sawant — all residents of the same locality.
The complainant stated that the accused, acting with common intention, blocked his motorcycle using their Tata Altroz car and threatened him, his wife and son with dire consequences, including threats to kill them.
He further alleged that the accused forcibly took away his mobile phone.
According to the complaint, the accused also assaulted him, his wife Sushma Sawant, and his son Shubham Sawant by slapping, kicking and beating them with a wooden danda, causing injuries to all three.
Police said further investigation in the case is in progress and is being carried out by ASI Tanaji T. Patil.
