Margao: It is essential to commemorate Goa Revolution Day with a State Function at Lohia Maidan, Margao, where Dr Ram Manohar Lohia and Dr Juliao Menezes lighted the flame of the Goa Liberation Movement. BJP Government must protect Monuments & Temples of Freedom Struggle & respect Freedom Fighters, stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Addressing the Media after paying floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial and Statue of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, the Leader of Opposition blamed BJP Government for its failure to Notify Lohia Maidan as a Place of Historic Importance despite his repeated appeals to the Government.
Congress President Amit Patkar, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha, South Goa Congress President Savio D’Silva and other Congress Leaders and Workers also paid tributes to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia and Freedom Fighters on the occasion of Goa Revolution Day.
“I appeal to the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, to act on the concerns of Goa Daman and Diu Freedom Fighters Association President Gurudas Kunde. He exposed the failure of the Government to give timely pensions and jobs to Children of Freedom Fighters. He also appealed to Government not to wipe out freedom fighters and stop converting Aguada Jain and Reis Magos Fort into Bars,” pointed out Yuri Alemao.
