ANJUNA: A 32-year-old man from Pune has been booked by Anjuna Police for rash and negligent driving after he allegedly drove his car onto Anjuna beach and into the sea, endangering the lives of its occupants.
Police said the incident occurred on Monday around 6 a.m. near Pirates Beach Shack. The accused, identified as Kunal Naik, son of Deepak Naik, a resident of Vishrantwadi, Pune, was driving a black Kia Carens (MH-14-ML-7970) when he recklessly entered the sandy stretch of Anjuna beach before driving the vehicle into the water.
No injuries were reported, but police said the act endangered the lives of passengers inside the car and posed a risk to others on the beach.
Based on a state complaint lodged by Head Constable Vishal Gawas (48) of Anjuna Police Station, an offence has been registered under sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is underway.
