Panaji: Punit Fadte continued his impressive run at the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Open 2025, advancing to both the men’s singles semifinals and the boys’ U-18 semifinals. Fadte breezed through the men’s singles quarterfinals, defeating top seed Siddharth Nunes 6-1. He also triumphed in the boys’ U-18 quarterfinals with a commanding 6-0 victory over Devaansh Naik.
Santosh Gorawar joined Punit in the men’s singles semifinals after a hard-fought 6-3 win over Tanay Amonkar. Earlier in the pre-quarterfinals, Nagesh Naik defeated Pankaj Nanoskar 6-4, while Prince D’Silva and Raju Kundaikar progressed with victories over Lyndon Pinto (6-3) and Kedar Tari (6-2), respectively.
In the mixed doubles category, Tithee Bhoomkar and Raju Kundaikar showed dominance, defeating Junette Rodrigues and Kane Pereira 6-0. Asuntha Fleming and Nagesh Naik followed suit with a 6-0 win over Anindita Sarwate and Gary Steele. Tomoyo Fujita and Prajat Halankar also delivered a 6-0 victory against Lianne Ribeiro and Eugene D’Souza.
In the girls’ U-14 semifinals, Bhaavya Bhoomkar claimed a commanding 4-1, 4-0 win over Ahana, setting up a final clash with Tvisha Sardesai, who triumphed over Urvi Panandikar 4-1, 4-3(4). In the boys’ U-14, Kyan Mavany secured his spot in the final with a 4-3(2), 4-0 win against Ethan Ataide.
The young tennis stars continued to shine in the U-10 categories. In the girls’ U-10, Samaira Patil, Aaliya Metry, and Subaghya Manda recorded easy victories. Meanwhile, Jai Mehta clinched a nail-biting 7-6(4) win over Kabir Thapar in the boys’ U-10.
In men’s doubles, Rajaram Paiginkar and Kyan Mavany cruised to a 6-0 victory over Arhan Gaunkar and Krishna Volvoikar. Prajat Halankar and Avadhut Palekar triumphed 6-3 against Cherian Joseph and Sarvesh Bhobe.
In the 45+ singles category, Caetano Fernandes edged out Navin Cardoz in a thrilling match, 6-4, 0-6, 10-6, to secure his place in the final.
The tournament continues at Panjim Gymkhana until April 13, with the finals approaching across multiple age groups.
