PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that Cabinet decides to set up a private medical college attached to South Goa District Hospital.
“Cabinet decides to set up a private medical college attached to South Goa District Hospital. RFP will be floated soon inviting proposals from private players,” said Sawant.
He further said that he is hoping to finish the process and have college running by June next year.
“There will be a trust headed by the Chief Minister and head of parties will be in the trust including Leader of Opposition. This trust will run the private medical college,” he added.
Sawant said that this model has been finalised by NITI Aayog. He also said that it’s a private medical college, there will a government administrative control.
“The decision has been taken and we are going ahead with that. All procedure will be duly followed before onboarding private operator” said CM.
CM said state government will not spend a single penny but grant adminstrative powers to the Trust.” Sawant
“This college will be benefit Goan students aspiring to take up medical professionals. Major quota will be reserved for Goan students'” CM informed.
The Chief Minister also informed that 10,000 sq meters of land, adjacent to South Goa District Hospital will be allocated to GSUDA for construction of the building.
“Existing building will be continued to use for public healthcare with no burden on visiting patients,” he said.
