Benaulim: PY Nuvem secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over CAC Cansaulim to advance to the semifinals of the 19th Super Soccer International Football Tournament, currently underway at the St John de Baptista Ground, Benaulim. The tournament is being organized by UC Benaulim.
The match’s solitary goal came early, with Francisco Colaco finding the back of the net in the 10th minute. Colaco rose to the occasion with a perfectly timed header, converting a well-placed cross from teammate Hudson Dias. The early strike turned out to be the difference as Nuvem held their lead till the final whistle.
PY Nuvem dominated proceedings for much of the match, controlling possession and creating several scoring opportunities. However, a mix of missed chances and resolute defending from CAC Cansaulim kept the scoreline tight.
CAC Cansaulim mounted a strong comeback in the dying minutes and nearly forced an equalizer. Cidroy D’Souza came agonizingly close, but his shot missed the target by inches, much to the relief of the Nuvem camp.
Francisco Colaco was named Man of the Match for his match-winning performance. The award was presented by Mr. Andrew Ferrao, GFA Executive Committee member and a noted football promoter from Velsao.
With this win, PY Nuvem march confidently into the semifinals, keeping their title hopes alive in the prestigious tournament.
