Quepem: A 29-year-old man was found dead at his residence in Avedem, Quepem, on Friday morning.
According to police, at around 10:27 am on December 26, 2025, Bhupendra Dessai, a resident of Avedem, Quepem, informed authorities that a person had been discovered lifeless at his house.
Police rushed to the location and identified the deceased as Aliston Fernandes (29), a resident of Qieneabhat, Avedem, Quepem. Initial investigation indicated that Fernandes was found hanging from a nylon rope attached to a ceiling fan inside his residence.
During the enquiry, family members stated that Fernandes had been facing mental health challenges, which may have contributed to the incident.
Authorities carried out a scene of occurrence panchanama as well as an inquest panchanama over the body. The body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for further medico-legal procedures.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Somesh Prabhudessai of the Quepem Police Station.
