FATORDA: A rag picker, believed to be a chronic alcoholic, was found dead behind the Income Tax Office building near the SGPDA market in Margao.
According to police, a phone call was received from 108 Ambulance staff alerting that an unknown male person was lying unresponsive at the location. The man was shifted to South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, where the attending doctor declared him brought dead.
Initial enquiries revealed that the deceased, known locally as Bahadur and believed to be a native of Jharkhand, was a rag picker who had been sleeping in open areas near the market. His full name and exact address remain unknown.
Police conducted a scene of Unnatural Death (UD) Panchanama and have preserved the body at SGDH for medico-legal formalities. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Ramrai Naik of Fatorda Police Station.
