CANDOLIM: Three people, including a pedestrian, were injured in a road accident near St. Theresa Church, Orda-Candolim, after a car collided with a scooter in the early hours of Sunday.
Police said the incident occurred around 5:30 am when a Maruti Swift (GA-03-W-5773) driven by Prakash Ramchandani (36), a resident of Ajmer, Rajasthan, was proceeding towards Calangute. The car allegedly hit a Vespa scooter (GA-03-AG-7299) coming from the opposite direction, causing grievous injuries to the rider Monikumari and pillion rider Roselyn Francis, and simple injuries to pedestrian Ashwini Rathod.
The accused driver allegedly fled the scene with his car without rendering medical aid to the injured or informing the police.
A case has been registered on the complaint of HC Nilesh Naik of Calangute Police Station, who is also the investigating officer. Further investigation is underway.
