PERNEM: Mopa Airport Police arrested a 26-year-old man from Rajasthan for allegedly possessing over 2 kg of ganja near Patradevi underpass along the National Highway.
According to police, the case was registered at Mopa Airport Police Station under Crime No. 11/2026 under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act based on a complaint filed by PSI Sagar Vazarkar.
Police said that on March 14 between 2.15 am and 6.25 am, the accused identified as Shahil Khan (26), a resident of Shiv Colony, Chandra Bhakhar, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, was found in illegal possession of 2,262 grams of suspected narcotic substance believed to be ganja.
The contraband, described as greenish dried leaves with flowering and fruiting tops, seeds and stalks, was allegedly concealed in a polypropylene bag carried by the accused. The seized drugs are valued at approximately ₹2.30 lakh.
Police conducted a field test which confirmed the substance to be ganja. The narcotic drugs were seized under a panchanama and the accused was placed under arrest after following Supreme Court guidelines.
Following the arrest, the accused was remanded to judicial custody at Colvale jail. Police have sent a grave crime express report to senior officers.
