VASCO: The sacred month of Karkidakam, also known as Ramayana Masam, will be celebrated with a series of spiritual and devotional events at Shree Ayyappa Temple, Mangor, Vasco, from July 17 to August 16, 2025.
The month-long programme aims to immerse devotees in the divine wisdom of the Ramayana, the eternal epic that imparts values of humility, righteousness, and spiritual steadfastness. The temple authorities said the events are intended not only as scriptural recitations but as a guide to righteous living.
As part of the celebrations, the temple will hold daily and special rituals open to all devotees. The schedule includes:
Ayyappa Bhagavatham Parayanam on the first day of Karkidakam (July 17)
Daily Ramayana Parayanam at 9:00 am
Ashtadravya Ganapathi Homam daily at 6:15 am to invoke Lord Ganesha’s blessings for a smooth observance
Bhagavathi Seva daily at 7:15 pm as an offering to the Divine Mother
On August 3, two significant events are planned:
Mrityunjaya Homam at 9:00 am, performed by the temple Thantri to invoke Lord Mahadeva for healing and longevity
Thanthri Pooja from 10:30 am onwards, seeking Lord Ayyappa’s blessings
Additionally, the annual Vavu Bali (Pithru Tarpanam) will be held at Baina Beach on July 24 from 6:15 am to 8:30 am, as an offering to ancestors.
