PONDA: Due to rampant road digging for power cabling, the Pondaitees breathe dust instead of Oxygen, leading to severe health hazards.
Road digging spreads dust in houses, forcing people to shut down their doors and windows to prevent dust pollution.
Locals said there is a need to sprinkle and spray water on mud along roads to avoid dust pollution; however, no serious attention to the problem. The agencies are rarely seen doing this.
Locals complain of falling health issues; recently, locals protested, demanding to stop road digging due to the looming monsoon. However, agencies continued work but no control over dust pollution which is causing health hazards to people.
Most of the roads are dug for power cables; however, it is progressing without any measures to control dust pollution, and locals are complaining of falling sick by inhaling dust.
It’s been more than two months now, and road digging is progressing in Ponda for laying power cables, sewer lines, and gas lines.
