Minister for Urban Development Vishwajit Rane on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed commercial complex of the Mapusa Municipal Garage, a landmark infrastructure project in the heart of Mapusa aimed at enhancing the city’s commercial ecosystem and providing modern facilities to businesses and citizens.
Designed as a state-of-the-art structure, the complex comprises a Basement + 7 floors. The basement is fully allocated for parking, ensuring convenience for shop-goers and office users. The ground and first floors feature 21 commercial shops, while the second to sixth floors accommodate 60 well-planned office spaces—each unit equipped with dedicated or common toilet facilities and adequate parking support.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rane said the complex will “create new avenues for business and strengthen the commercial fabric of the city,” reaffirming the state government’s focus on modern urban infrastructure that facilitates economic opportunity and accessibility.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mapusa MLA and Deputy Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Joshua Peter De Souza; Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira; Chairperson of the Mapusa Municipal Council Smt. Priya V. Mishal; Vice Chairperson Prakash V. Bhivshet; Urban Development Director Brijesh D. Manerkar; Chief Project Officer and Member Secretary of GSUDA Ankush Gaonkar; Chief Officer of Mapusa Municipal Council Chandrakant B. Shetkar; Senior Project Engineer (GSUDA) Hussain Shah Muzawar; and councillors of the Mapusa Municipal Council.
Rane stated that this initiative reflects the government’s “ongoing commitment to transforming Goa’s urban spaces through forward-looking, citizen-centric infrastructure.”
