PILERNE: Two persons sustained injuries after a rashly driven car dashed into a scooter at Marra, Pilerne, on Sunday morning. The accused driver allegedly fled the spot without providing medical assistance and later rammed into an electric pole and a compound wall.
According to Saligao Police, the accident occurred on March 23 prior to 10:54 am when a Hyundai i10 car bearing registration number GA-03-W-5649, driven by Shivam Singh (25), a native of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, was proceeding from Candolim towards Panaji. Upon reaching near Lane No. 13 at Marra, Pilerne, the car reportedly hit an Activa scooter (GA-03-AZ-4624) ridden by Joaquim Dias of Marra, Pilerne, who was travelling in the same direction.
Due to the impact, Joaquim Dias and pillion rider Maria L. Dias fell onto the road and sustained bodily injuries. Police said the driver fled the scene without offering medical help and further crashed into an electric pole and a private compound wall near Mafia Bar and Restaurant, causing damage to both properties.
Saligao Police have registered a case, and further investigation is in progress under Head Constable Amit R. Naik (B. No. 4997).
