Quepem: Cuncolim Police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving following a road accident reported on National Highway 66 at Karmalghat, Barcem, Quepem.
According to the state complaint lodged by HC-6922 Tukaram Velip of Cuncolim Police Station, the incident occurred on January 20, 2026, at around 10.10 am.
The accused, identified as Laxman Chalwadi, a resident of Zari, Zuarinagar, Sancoale, was driving a Maruti Suzuki WagonR car from Cuncolim towards Canacona.
Police stated that the accused allegedly drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life, and upon reaching Karmalghat at Barcem, collided with a Ford Figo car that was proceeding from Canacona towards Cuncolim.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the Ford Figo, Ravibabu Kushbah, a resident of Delem, Canacona, and a passenger in the Maruti WagonR, Patricia Monique Loyant EP Amauger, a resident of France, sustained grievous injuries.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by HC-6922 Tukaram Velip of Cuncolim Police Station.
