MAPUSA: Mapusa Police have registered an offence against a woman driver after a head-on collision on NH-66 left one person injured and a vehicle extensively damaged.
The incident took place on November 10 at around 5:30 pm near the Tar Bridge at Bastora. According to the complaint filed by Pritesh Vasant Naik, 42, of Sal, Bicholim, the accused driver, Pooja Amey Wadkar of Mala, Panaji, was proceeding towards Guirim in her car (GA-07-K-9164) when she allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner.
Police said the vehicle jumped the NH-66 divider and entered the opposite one-way lane leading from Guirim towards Karaswada, where it collided with Naik’s car (GA-04-E-8017). Naik suffered injuries in the crash, while his vehicle was completely damaged. The accused also sustained injuries.
Based on the complaint, Mapusa Police registered Cr No. 142/2025 under Sections 281, 125, 125(a), and 324(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Investigating Officer HC Vijay Gadekar has issued a notice under Section 35(3) of BNSS to the accused.
