RUMDAWADA: A fatal accident was reported on Saturday evening near the motor vehicle washing centre beside Shirodkar building at Rumdawada, Mormugao. Police have registered an offence based on a complaint filed by Head Constable Hirilual Naik of Mormugao Police Station.
According to the inquiry, the accused, Srikrishna Bandekar (20), a resident of Baina, allegedly drove his Hyundai i10 sports car (GA 06 E 5006) in a rash and negligent manner while travelling from Sada to Vasco. Upon reaching Rumdawada around 3:10 pm, the vehicle reportedly rammed into an Activa scooter (GA 06 H 8654) that was halted on the roadside.
The scooter rider, Mallinath Goudar (55), a resident of MPT Colony, Headland Sada, sustained severe injuries in the impact. He was rushed to SDH Chicalim but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Mormugao Police have registered an offence under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS. Further investigation is underway under PSI Suraj T. Naik under the supervision of PI Sheriff Jacques and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam
