Canacona: A rash overtaking attempt by a scooter rider resulted in a triple vehicle collision near the JMFC Court at Canacona on Monday evening, leaving two motorcyclists grievously injured.
According to Canacona police, the incident occurred on March 3 at around 6:10 pm when Sharmad Faldesai, a resident of Gaondongrim, Canacona, was riding his Ntorq scooter from Chaudi towards Gaondongrim.
Police said that upon reaching opposite the JMFC Court near the T-road junction, the rider allegedly attempted to overtake and in the process first dashed against a Hero Splendor motorcycle proceeding in the same direction. The scooter then collided with another Hero Splendor motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
As a result of the accident, the riders of the two motorcycles, Santosh Gaonkar of Netravali, Sanguem, and Abhishek Kumar Sahani of Nessai, sustained grievous injuries, while the pillion rider Govind Sahani, also from Nessai, suffered simple injuries.
The case has been registered on the complaint of Head Constable Ganu Pagi of Canacona Police Station.
Further investigation is being carried out by HC Ganu Pagi of Canacona Police Station.
