Cuncolim: A road accident involving two two-wheelers was reported near the first gate of the IDC area in Cuncolim on December 20, 2025, at around 8.15 pm, following alleged rash and negligent riding.
According to Cuncolim police, the incident occurred when the rider of a Suzuki Swish scooter, identified as Vijay Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was travelling from Quepem towards Cuncolim. Police stated that while attempting to overtake another vehicle, the scooter rider allegedly moved to the wrong side of the road and collided with a Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
The impact caused the Splendor rider, Chandan Shinde, a resident of Mokim, Cuncolim, to fall onto the tar road along with his motorcycle, resulting in bodily injuries. He was shifted for medical treatment.
Based on a complaint lodged by HC-6985 Sandesh Gaonkar of Cuncolim Police Station, a case has been registered against the scooter rider for rash and negligent driving endangering human life.
Further investigation is being carried out by HC-6985 Sandesh Gaonkar of Cuncolim Police Station.
