Panjim: The BPS Sports Club in Margao is set to host the second edition of the BPS Open Pickleball Championship 2026 from February 6 to 8, marking another important step in the rapid growth of the sport across Goa. The three day event will bring together participants from different age groups and competitive levels, reflecting how quickly pickleball has moved from a recreational activity to an organised sporting discipline in the state.
Organisers have planned a packed schedule at the club premises, with matches spread across multiple categories to ensure wide participation. The opening day will see competitions in Men’s Singles 60 plus, 35 plus Mixed Doubles, 50 plus Singles, Under 12 and Under 16 sections, giving both young players and senior competitors an opportunity to begin their campaign early in the tournament.
The second day will feature 50 plus Mixed Doubles, 60 plus Doubles, 35 plus Doubles and the popular Men’s Open Singles event. Several leading players from Goa are expected to take part, adding to the competitive intensity. Prominent performers from the previous season, including winners in the 35 plus Men’s Singles and 35 plus Men’s Doubles categories, are also scheduled to return for this edition.
The final day will conclude with Open Mixed Singles, 50 plus Doubles, 35 plus Doubles and Open Men’s Doubles matches, followed by the title deciders across divisions. The structure of the championship has been widened compared to last year, allowing a greater number of athletes to compete and earn ranking points.
The tournament carries a record prize pool of five lakh rupees, the highest ever offered for a pickleball competition in Goa. Officials believe the increased incentives and additional categories will encourage more players to take the sport seriously and pursue regular competition. The event is being held in association with the Goa Pickleball Association as part of a broader effort to create stronger competitive pathways within the state.
With rising participation, improved infrastructure and professionally organised tournaments, pickleball in Goa is entering a new phase of development. The BPS Open Pickleball Championship 2026 is expected to play a significant role in sustaining that momentum and in inspiring more enthusiasts to take up the sport in the coming years.
