PANAJI: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai today has welcomed the state government’s decision to recruit only through the staff selection commission while stating that a retired HC judge be appointed to maintain transparency.
“Welcome Govt of Goa’s decision to recruit only through the Staff Selection Commission, but to maintain integrity and transparency, a retired High Court judge from Goa must head the body and not a bureaucrat,” said Sardesai.
He further said that the Chief Minister should write the Annual Performance and Assessment Report.
“I must remind the Govt of Goa that we had gone to the hon Supreme Court to reverse CM’s decision to appoint a bureaucrat as the State Election Commissioner, which the apex court ruled as a mockery of the Constitution”, he added.
Vijai said that independent bodies must have independent authority.
CM Pramod Sawant said that from January, recruitment for all posts in government departments will be done through the Goa staff selection commission.
He said that this system would end the present opaque recruitment process, which involves favours from MLAs.
