PANAJI: In a thrilling finale at the Bulls Areena Futsal Ground, Nagoa, Red Phantoms from Sonarwaddo clinched the Our Lady of Succour Friendship Cup 2025, narrowly defeating Junior Strikers from Pimplewaddo 5-4 in a tense penalty shootout. Organized by The Good Run Sports Ministry under the guidance of Our Lady of Succour and Good Success Church, Nagoa-Salcete, the tournament showcased the spirit of sportsmanship and youth engagement. The final match ended in a goalless draw during regular time despite several close chances by both teams. In the decisive shootout, Red Phantoms held their nerve with successful conversions from Asif, Roston, Alex, Owais, and Sohan, while Valirio, Jasiel, and Ransom scored for the Junior Strikers.
The awards were presented by Rev. Fr. Edson Anthony Fernandes, parish priest and chief guest, in the presence of football enthusiast Mr. Francisco Fernandes. Fr. Edson praised the youth for their efforts and urged them to uphold discipline, good values, and a healthy lifestyle, steering clear of alcohol and drugs. In recognition of his role in founding the Sports Ministry, a memento was presented to him by Joyden Colaco on behalf of the organizing team. Individual accolades included Best Goalkeeper for Mohit Tete (Junior Strikers), Best Defender for Anish Kumar (Junior Strikers), Best Midfielder for Joel Monteiro (United Boyz), and Best Striker and Player of the Final for Alex Fernandes (Red Phantoms). Skyler Dias of United Boyz earned the Highest Scorer award, while Joyden Colaco was named Player of the Tournament and the Third Place Match. United Boyz secured third place overall, and Spartans FC received the Best Disciplined Team award. The event was efficiently compered by Zion Godinho, contributing to the smooth conduct and enthusiastic atmosphere of the tournament
