Calangute: Calangute: In a unique road safety initiative, Calangute Traffic Police have started tying reflective belts on stray cattle to improve visibility at night and reduce accidents on busy roads.
Traffic Police Inspector Brendon D’Souza said stray cattle sitting on poorly lit stretches are often difficult for riders to spot, leading to serious collisions. “The reflective belts will make the cattle visible to approaching vehicles, which will not only save the animals but also prevent accidents involving two-wheelers,” he explained.
D’Souza added that the department aims to cover as many stray cattle as possible in the coming weeks, particularly in accident-prone areas along Calangute and nearby coastal roads. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety in the area, especially during night hours when visibility is low.
