PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that some South Indian states and political parties even today do not promote the Hindi language and are not even interested in speaking and understanding Hindi.
Chief Minister was addressing the ‘Swarna Mahotsava’ of Gomantak Rashtrabhasha Vidyapeeth, Margao
“South Indian states and political parties even today do not promote the Hindi language and are not even interested in speaking and understanding Hindi,” said Sawant.
He also said that along with Hindi, all regional languages should be promoted.
“Some regional political parties in South India still do not accept Hindi as the national language despite the efforts made by the central government to promote the use of the language,” he said.
The recruiting procedure for Konkani interpreters in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha was started, according to the Chief Minister, because the language is included in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution.
It has been reported to me that there were only two applicants for the position of translator. He continued, “I have asked them to place an ad inviting potential applicants for Konkani translators in Parliament once more.”
