PANAJI: For 15 celebratory days this year, the Environment Department has relaxed its rules for loud music, permitting the use of public address systems and loudspeakers from 10 p.m. until midnight.
Permission will be granted on an individual basis, according to an order issued by Environment Director Sachin Desai.Loudspeakers will be available for usage from 10 p.m. to midnight on March 4, 2025, the last day of the Carnival.
Easter eve on April 19, the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi for idol immersion on August 28, and the fifth day of the celebration on August 31 are also covered by the respite. The directive also covers Anant Chaturdashi on September 6.
Additionally, on the final day of Navratri (1 October) and Diwali eve (19 October), loud music will be permitted until midnight. The relaxation includes Christmas eve (December 24) and Christmas (December 25), as well as the holiday season from December 28 to December 31. On the 21st and 22nd days of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the government has also approved loud music.
According to the Environment Department decision, “permission will be granted on a case-by-case basis in response to a specific application by the village panchayat, municipal corporation, municipal council, or an individual in Goa.”
“The Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, provisions must be strictly adhered to,” it explained.
