PANJIM: Former Law Minister of India and Former Dy, CM of Goa Ramakant Khalap has made a strong appeal to the Government to relocate IIT Goa and initiate process for regularization of land holdings of the villagers of Shell – Melauli under the provisions of Land Revenue Code, 1968 or Decree No 3402 applicable to Alvara lands.
Khalap has stated that Encroachers / Usurpers of Govt Land have a right to apply for regularization of their holdings.
In a letter to the Chef Minister od Goa, Khalap has suggested alternate sites for relocation of IIT Goa. The Land earmarked for IT Habitat in the neighbourhood of Goa University would be ideal location for IIT Goa said Mr. Khalap. Alternatively one of the SEZ properties preferably the one at (BhutKhamb, Keri – Ponda) may also be considered he said.
Goa Government should not make IIT site at Shell – Melauli their prestige issue, said khalap.
