PANAJI: Goa State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has informed that in view of Guidelines/Instructions from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, New Delhi and National Commission, Consumer Commissions in Goa are required to impose cost in case of more than two adjournments without valid reason.
Recent order from Delhi determined that absence of advocate due to his appearance at another Court cannot be a valid reason.
Repeated adjournment may result in dismissal of matters or passing ex-parte orders.
Litigants and Advocates may take note of this and ensure presence on the date of hearing in their interest.
