BICHOLIM: Residents of Varchawada, Borde in Bicholim have expressed strong opposition to the recent delimitation and changes in the voters’ list ahead of the upcoming Bicholim Municipal Council elections.
Addressing a press conference, locals alleged that the newly carried out delimitation in the Varchawada, Borde area is unfair and would adversely affect several voters. They claimed that changes in the voters’ list have caused inconvenience to many residents and could impact their voting rights. The residents urged the administration to review the decision and take corrective measures.
Responding to the concerns, local MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye clarified that the delimitation process is conducted by election authorities as per rules and through the competent authority. He stated that there is no personal interference in the process and all decisions are taken strictly in accordance with prescribed norms.
He further assured that the concerns and grievances raised by citizens would be conveyed to the concerned election officials and efforts would be made to find an appropriate solution.
