PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has directed Mines Department to take steps to start sand mining through traditional extractors on an urgent basis.
“Have directed necessary steps are to be taken to start sand mining through traditional extractors on an urgent basis,” said CM Sawant.
CM Sawant held a review meeting with AG, CS, DGP, Secretaries, Collectors, DMG and other senior officers regarding issues related to sand mining and laterite queries in the State.
The Chief Minister also issued instructions for a strict vigil on illegal mining activities, including sand mining.
“The Mines Department has been directed to process all the pending applications pertaining to minor minerals on priority,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Mines department has also been directed to put in place a proper online transit pass system for transporting sand or other minor minerals from neighbouring states.
CM Sawant also reviewed issues related to ANC with senior Goa Police officials.
