CAVELOSSIM: Ashish Nehra, the former cricket player for India, has received a notice from Cavelossim Panchayat asking him to take the required steps to return the land to its previous state within a month.
Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz has addressed a warning to Nehra through his Power of Attorney, Himanshu Jain, two days after the illegal road problem caused a stir in the seaside village where the residents questioned the authorities’ passivity over the restitution of the land.
The communication from the Cavelossim Sarpanch alerted the POA to the fact that the Village Panchayat Cavelossim had sent out a stop work notice on August 14, 2024, requesting that all legal documentation related to the ongoing activity in Sy. No. 95/1-C be submitted.
However, the Sarpanch stated that the POA has not yet responded or cooperated with the office. Accordingly, within 30 days of receiving this notice, village Panchayat Cavelossim is directing you to take the necessary steps to return the land area to its pre-restoration state; if this is not done, additional action will be taken in accordance with sub-section 4 of Section 66 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act of 1994.
Due to the road’s development in an area designated as a No Development zone, the locals have been requesting that the former Indian cricket player be held accountable. The people questioned why the road had not been removed from the location and the land returned to its previous state, despite the Sarpanch and Panchayat’s insistence that the Panchayat had issued the stop work notice.
Concerning the road development at Cavelosism in the NDZ zone, inquiries have been made regarding the steps taken by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA).
