PONDA: The Forest review Committee disposed of a total 1306 survey numbers out of 3195 survey numbers which were provisionally identified as Private Forest by Thomas and Araujo Committee.
The Forest officials said interim report of the committee has been uploaded on the forest departmental website http://forest.goa.gov.in as per direction the of the NGT.
The review of balance survey numbers is underway, said the forest officials.
Following this, the long-pending issue of survey and demarcation of private forest areas provisionally identified by Thomas and Araujo Committee has been resolved by the Government of Goa to a large extent by accepting the interim report submitted by Review Committee constituted to review the private forest areas provisionally identified by these committees.
It may be recalled that the Deputy Conservator, Working Plan Division Ponda, last year asked to file objections/ representations, if any, from the landowners, whose land was preliminarily identified as private forest by District Level Expert Committee for North and South (Thomas and Araujo Committee).
Following which objections were filed by landowners last year.
