PANAJI: Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) Chief Manoj Parab has alleged that the land requirement for the proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Goa is being artificially inflated to benefit political leaders and land mafias.
Speaking to the media, Parab claimed that the Centre’s condition of 20 lakh square metres of land for full development of the IIT project is impractical for a small state like Goa, where such large tracts of land cannot be made available exclusively.
He alleged that the BJP government is deliberately pushing inflated land demand in identified areas, with the hidden motive of facilitating land deals for influential politicians and private players under the guise of the prestigious IIT project.
Calling the entire land allotment exercise a “big land scam,” the RGP leader said the people of Goa will strongly oppose any attempt to displace locals or misuse scarce land resources for vested interests.
