PANAJI: In a sharp escalation of tensions between the two parties, Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) chief Manoj Parab on Friday accused the Congress of misleading the RGP over alliance talks, while also hinting that the Congress may be preparing a “backdoor entry” for defectors through its coalition partners.
Parab, who took a swipe at the Congress on Facebook with the hashtag #GhatOnceAgain, said “Goa is watching” as he suggested that the party’s political manoeuvres resembled past episodes of defections and internal churn.
He alleged that the Congress kept the RGP waiting under the pretext of finalising an alliance framework, but dragged the process without offering clarity.
“The Congress has cheated us. We were waiting for the alliance to happen, but they kept delaying and misleading us,” Parab said.
With uncertainty mounting, Parab informed that the RGP’s Central Election Committee will meet later today to decide the party’s next course of action for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections.
He also indicated that the party is prepared to contest independently if needed, stressing that the RGP “will not compromise on principles for political convenience” even if it means going solo.
